It might have been a while since you last heard the word "God" used in a classroom, other than just as a swear. The vibe I have always gotten from my public schooling has always been that people - specifically scientists - can explain every question worth asking... and if they can't now, sooner or later they will. So, not only is there no good factual reason to believe that a supernatural uncreated Being who created the universe exists, humanity isn't lacking in anything regarding personal feelings and desires that cannot be tended to with caring people trained in the art of crisp, cool reason . I believe the essence of reason is this: "Truth exists, because it is impossible for it to be true that truth does not exist."
